The UIC service group University Students with Solidarity provides suggestions on how students can spend the summer in a different way by helping people in need. Suggested activities include participating in different work camps and doing volunteer work in different parts of the world.
The UIC presented its own Youtube channel ( www.youtube.com/uic ) on 11 July 2008, within the framework of the University Council meeting. The UIC is the first private Catalan university to have its own Youtube channel, which enables users to share digital videos on the Internet.
Around thirty people who have been working at the UIC for the past ten years received medals from the Rector with the university's new seal. The awards ceremony was held during the General Meeting of the teaching and administrative staff, where new appointments and new facilities were also announced.
Antoni Laporte, director of ARTImetria, a company that works on professionalizing cultural management, spoke at the Humanities and Journalism graduation ceremony held on Friday, 4 July 2008.
The event, which was held on Friday, 20 June 2008 in the Graduate Hall, was presided over by Dr. Salvador Aragonés, the Assistant Dean of Journalism, and Roger Jiménez, the director of the postgraduate programme. The guest speaker was Pitu Abril, the presenter of the BTV programme La Porteria.
