Discussion Group

The discussion group trains, prepares and supports students who want to develop communication skills, improve reasoning ability and argumentation.

Prepares in communication skills all its participants. Both to hold debates and to grow as future professionals; also influencing respect for others, the image and tone of the interventions. We seek that participants develop rational argumentation as a fundamental tool of communication and persuasion: thus moving the danger of demagogy.

200Josep-Vicenç Mestre Nogué

Graduated in Humanities and Political Sciences, and a Masters in World History from Pompeu Fabra University. He is currently doing a PhD in History. He has taught at the UPF on Public Speaking. Speech and Argumentation, Speak in Public and Convince Your Audience and Speech: a transversal tool. He has also given oratory courses in various institutions.

He has been part of the winning team of the VIII League of Interuniversity Debate of the Vives Network 2012, of the Internal League of UPF 2013, and of the Youth League in Debate 2013 to JCI, with mention of the best speaker. He has participated in the Oraula group, promoted by the Teaching Department of the Generalitat of Catalonia and aimed at experimenting and promoting the teaching of formal oral discourse in public in the Catalan educational system. He has collaborated in the preparation of the book The Secrets of Public Speaking. Guide for professionals. He has also published several academic articles.

  • 3 hours per session. 
  • One ore more debate competitions are held during the course.

200Carles Lombarte i Lladó

Graduated in Economic and Business Sciences, specialized in the marketing branch and a Postgraduate in Management Skills. He has also carried out the Vicens Vives Civic Leadership and Commitment Program (8th Generation) at ESADE Business School.

Trainer in Speech, Debate and Non-Verbal Communication in different universities such as TecnoCampus de Mataró or Euncet Business School, among others. He is passionate about Coaching, the Economy and everything that has to do with personal growth and leadership. He is a member of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), the Spanish Association of Directors (AED) and the Círculo de Economía de Barcelona.
