Presentation

Within the past decade, implantology has become the most exciting field of treatment and research in the dental profession.

Dental procedures that provide both functional and aesthetic restorative treatments and incorporate interdisciplinary approaches have roused tremendous interest in dentistry. Additionally, the vast scientific and technical developments that this discipline has seen in recent years has given the area of oral implantology a prominent place in dental literature and scientific publications, making its impact factor much greater than that of any other sub-discipline in dentistry.

The clinical success and reliability of dental implants have substantially changed the grounding concepts behind oral prosthetic procedures by offering patients a third dentition that replaces lost teeth both functionally and aesthetically.

Modern prosthodontic treatments for patients with missing teeth are able to combine classic oral treatment techniques with innovative concepts in implantological anchor units, distribution of strength, and osseointegration.

These aspects have underscored the importance of ongoing practice and development in implantology, and it is now offered as an optional subject in undergraduate dentistry programmes. However, due to the enormous scope of practical and theoretical knowledge this field involves, profound postgraduate training is essential for preparing dentists for clinical practices specialising in implantology.

This Master’s programme provides just that kind of training by collaborating with the Departments of Surgery and Prosthodontics and supplementing core coursework with instruction in periodontics, dental instruments, radiology, etc.
