Programme Overview
For ten years, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya School of
Architecture (ESARQ) has offered a rigorous and highly specialised programme in
architectural studies, principally founded on:
1. A model of independent learning
- that responds
to today’s focus on access to information by constructing an educational
paradigm based on applying knowledge and mastering professional skills
(analysis, synthesis, teamwork, information management, communication skills,
ethical commitments, etc);
-
that considers
the student’s personal process of evolution –a challenging task in a
theoretical, practical and highly competitive discipline – by designing a
coherent curriculum and making connections between various fields of knowledge
and the levels of demand required;
-
that stands out
for its research, as well as the importance it places on the application
thereof in innovative professional practice.
2. A specific structure based on
- enrolment
limits that facilitate the customisation of the curriculum, coordination
between various fields of knowledge (organised by a single inter-disciplinary
department), and the ability to readily confront and overcome the profession’s
new challenges;
- a team of
professors with diverse backgrounds and broad experience in innovative
professional practices;
- paying constant
attention to changes in social demand, adapting specialised fields of knowledge
to suit them, and employing advanced tools for research and instruction;
- an emphasis on
the skills and abilities that complement the goals of the UIC: teamwork,
ethical commitments, information management, as well as skills in
communication, analysis and synthesis.
