The Doctor Honoris Causa Title

The honorary appointment and investiture of Honoris Causa serves a dual purpose in the Spanish university system: it enriches the University faculty symbolically by welcoming a new and esteemed member, and, at the same time, it honours and pays solemn tribute to a prominent figure in the arts or sciences.

The Doctor Honoris Causa Investiture Ceremony, together with the Inauguration of the Academic Year, is one of the most important ceremonies hosted by the University. It is a moment that encapsulates the importance and iconic value of our institution, and best represents our steadfast commitment to tradition.

In the 10+ years since its founding, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya has hosted two of these ceremonies. The following pages contain brief profiles of those who have received Doctor Honoris Causa, as well as transcriptions of speeches and lectures delivered during their respective ceremonies.
