Rafael Pich-Aguilera (1928) and Peter Franz Riederer (1942) was awarded Doctor Honoris Causa from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya on 16 April, 2008.
Dr. Pich-Aguilera’s laudatio was given by architect Gil Nebot; Dr. Riederer’s was read by Dr. Jordi Cervós i Navarro, Rector Emeritus of the UIC.
The UIC University Council decided to bestow Doctor Honoris Causa to Dr. Pich-Aguilera in recognition of his role in the founding of the University, and to honour his professional efforts in promoting higher education and family orientation. Riederer’s Doctor Honoris Causa was awarded in recognition of his scientific pursuits and his thorough and unyielding dedication to research in the field of neuroscience.
The ceremony was the UIC’s second academic bestowal ceremony, for the tenth anniversary of the University.
