Subjects on the curriculum

All the programmes for our degree courses, with the exception of those lasting just three years, are divided into two cycles.

In the first cycle, the English modules have a certain academic focus and are aimed at strengthening students’ receptive skills: aural comprehension, note taking and the critical study of texts.

In the second cycle, the English modules are designed to provide a greater emphasis on the type of language necessary for the particular professional career corresponding to each subject area.

Although the subjects are optional, it is important that students follow the stipulated sequence of courses laid out in their respective curriculum in order to be able to take full advantage of them.

The courses offered by the Language Services follow a system of continuous assessment and therefore the marks can only be attained for the term(s) in which the course is held. In the same way, the weighting of the note in the final exam for both cycles of the course is always less than 50% of the overall mark.
