Jordi Palou, a lawyer and international mediator, and Josep Maria Carrera, the president of the non-governmental organization (NGO) Matres Mundi, along with their collaborators Bely Comas and Dolores Chacón, opened a colloquium on Tuesday, 18 November 2008, on the genocides in DR Congo and Rwanda. The colloquium was given within the framework of the course on International Law taught by professor Amparo del Río.
More than 50 people, most of whom represented companies and financial consulting firms, attended a conference on the economic situation and investment alternatives jointly organized by the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, Cuatrecasas law firm and «la Caixa» Banca Privada.

Around 700 students attended the traditional Welcome Session for new UIC students held on Thursday, 25 September 2007. Two sessions were held for the first time: one in the morning and another in the afternoon. Among the UIC's new students are those in the first year of the new medical programme.
The new official Master's programme in Clinical, Legal and Forensic Psychopathology was launched on Friday, 19 September 2008. This programme, which is adapted to the Bologna Process, is designed for criminalists and other members of the legal profession and meets current market demands in this field.
