Presentation

Royal Decree 450/2005 of 22 April on nursing specialisations recognised the need for nursing professionals focused on health and safety in the workplace. This order, in conjunction with an earlier law on the prevention of workplace health risks (31795) requires that all workplaces have trained and capable professionals to look out for the health needs of its employees, in order to prevent health risks imposed by workplace conditions.

In accordance with these provisions, the Postgraduate Course in Workplace Nursing and Industrial Health at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) is designed to train professionals specialising in workplace health from an interdisciplinary perspective that incorporates scientific knowledge, skills and approaches, as well as a holistic and integrated curriculum within the area of labour risk prevention. Students who complete this course will gain the necessary knowledge and training for working within the field of workplace risk prevention and will be prepared to efficiently develop in-company preventative activities and training protocols.

Today’s nursing professionals are in a great position to help employees within their places of work and protect their overall health and well-being. This postgraduate course provides the essential tools for preventing illness and accidents, and educating both employees and employers about the need for health management and prevention plans in the workplace.
