The research team led by Dr. Núria Durany dedicates its efforts to studying the molecular mechanisms which cause Alzheimer's, specifically the toxicity produced by beta-amyloid protein, the formation of aggregates, and the effect of glycosylation endproducts. A second research line is based on the study of the medicine Núcleo CMP Forte in the regeneration and protection of the neurones.

The two research lines directed by Doctor Clotet respond to very different realities and interests. Firstly, research into the cellular cycle is a line that was initiated 10 years ago and one which is producing some very fruitful results. Secondly, research into molecular analysis of periodontal pathologies aims to support the areas of periodoncy and implantology within the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.

A study of the enzymes which regulate the oxidation of the fats and the synthesis of ketone bodies and their effect on: hunger control and obesity; resistance to insulin and diabetes; cognitive metabolopathies of ketogenesis; synthesis of cerebral lipids, and neuronal plasticity phenomena.
