This research line is based on the study of the image as a human phenomenon which is especially apparent in present creative, representative and cultural activity. It is based on a concept of the image that goes beyond its visual aspect in order to access its cultural construction. What were the paths of creation of the image? What relationship is there between image, culture and communication? What are the imaginaries and how did they originate?

This research line focuses on studying culture originating from a monastic environment. The approach and scope is interdisciplinary. The work method integrates historiographical and functional levels and the perception and mentality of the different manifestations present in European culture which have originated from or been developed in this environment.
