Psychology and Psychiatry
The literature published about the experience of caring for
someone suffering from Alzheimer’s has mainly focused on analysing and
explaining the negative aspects of the care, although recent studies have also
began to show an interest in positive aspects which may also exist as part of
this experience.
There are an increasingly greater number of authors who
suggest the existence of important individual differences in the level in which
these carers experience the negative and positive consequences of the care,
based on their ability to confront the illness suffered by a family member. We
are especially interested in studying these individual differences,
specifically through highlighting the possible role played in finding a meaning
to the care provided in order to help carers manage the situation better.
