Rules

The Forum is open to university students from any Catalan university, as well as current second year Baccalaureate students. Projects may be presented in Catalan, Spanish or English.

Forms of participation

The categories for this year’s UIC Barcelona Forum are:

1) Academic project

An academic project is one that conducts a theoretical exploration or case study.

It must be submitted in a written format.

Format and structure:

  • Groups of up to five students may participate.
  • The project must address an aspect of the theme of this year’s Forum.
  • It should be between seven and ten pages in length (between 3,500 and 5,000 words) and be presented in the form of a 15-minute spoken presentation.

The project must be structured as follows:

  1. Title page: title, authors’ names and university, tutor/director’s name and university.
  2. Summary of 5-10 lines.
  3. Introduction: stating the objectives, the initial question to be answered or the problem to be solved.
  4. Methodology.
  5. Results/analysis: main arguments, analysis of the data collected, description of cases, analysis and discussion of other perspectives on the same subject, etc.
  6. Conclusions: Propose conclusions based on the arguments or evidence provided in the body of the project.
  7. Bibliography of the works consulted and cited in the project.

The public presentation on the day of the UIC Barcelona Forum must be a spoken presentation, with or without audiovisual support material.

2) Social impact project

In the face of the current financial and health crisis, the university refuses to sit on the side-lines. UIC Forum provides the University Community with a platform where students and lecturers converge, with the aim of promoting social impact projects.

We support you as you learn to analyse the context to which you would like to contribute.  We give you the knowledge you need to make it happen: what to bear in mind when planning a project; conducting a study of the necessary resources and how to communicate successfully.

Then, by working in a team alongside your peers and with the guidance of a lecturer, you will present your project before a jury who will present an award to the best project. The award will be financial and will go towards launching the proposed project.

The teams will be made up of between 2 and 5 students.  The workshops will be held online on Saturday mornings.  Students who attend all meetings and present their project at the Forum will receive the corresponding certificates.

The social impact projects must respond to the context current of uncertainty sparked by the pandemic.

It must be submitted in a written format.

Format and structure:

  • Groups must be made up of between 2 and 5 students.
  • It should be between seven and ten pages in length (between 3,500 and 5,000 words) and be presented in the form of a 15-minute spoken presentation.

The project should be structured as follows:

  1. Title page: title, authors’ names and university, tutor/director’s name and university
  2. An analysis and justification of the project
  3. Description of the project and its phases
  4. Resources and viable plan
  5. Communication strategy
